Job Description

About the company

At Swift Solar, we’re building the future of solar. We believe that solar energy has vast untapped potential to reduce inequity and protect planetary health in the face of global climate change. We believe that today’s solar technology is good but not good enough. And we believe that what we build today should serve humanity forever.

Swift’s perovskite tandem technology breaks through the performance limits of existing solar technologies. By making solar better—more efficient, more affordable, and more widely accessible—we are helping to create a world where all energy is clean energy.

Swift Solar is a mission-focused startup funded by committed investors. We know it’s a long journey to take a new clean energy technology to market, and we’re in it for the long haul together. If you join us, you’ll play a meaningful role in taking Swift’s impact to the next level.

A day in the life

As a stability technician at Swift, you will be responsible for executing in-house accelerated stability tests for our solar cells. Your responsibilities include loading and unloading solar cells and modules from various setups where they are aged under different conditions, then measuring and documenting changes in the solar cells upon aging. Working at an early-stage startup, you will play a key role in the company’s technical development.

On a typical day, you will review the status for all stability tests and plan your day to encompass any scheduled loads/unloads for the day, while keeping detailed documentation of your work. Based on instructions from scientists, you will apply thin-film and device characterization techniques to fresh and aged solar cells and modules to help the team understand potential degradation mechanisms. You will also perform minor maintenance procedures on stability equipment as needed to ensure smooth operation.

As an early hire, you’ll help craft Swift’s culture and technical directions. As our team grows, we’ll expect you to help mentor and set an example for new team members. You will find many opportunities to grow your own skills and capabilities, and we encourage you to take full advantage of them.

  • Are able to collaborate with scientists on experiments by following varying instructions, as well as reporting status updates and results
  • Are able to operate in rapidly changing environment
  • Are proactive, hard-working, coachable, and motivated to make an impact on climate change
