You will join a team developing a state-of-the-art general-purpose robot designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, to walk like humans do, and to dexterously manipulate objects with its hands and upper body.

Job Title:        Sr. Software & Controls Engineer

 

Location:       Austin, TX

 

Duties:

Applying theoretical understanding of significant subsets of robot dynamics, control, calculus, and software skills to develop planning and control algorithms. Responsible for implementing those algorithms into practical, efficient, and bug-free software using CPP for complex robotics systems, especially dynamic-legged robots in unstructured environments and grasping and manipulating generic objects with a robot arm in an industrial automation context. Performing independent research for implementing useful tasks on the humanoid robot, developing a working solution, and troubleshooting hardware. Supporting the team in maintaining a real-time, multithreaded software framework based on ROS (robot operating system) architectures and testing, documenting software, planning future efforts, and engaging in code reviews.

 

Minimum Requirements:  

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience in a related occupation utilizing C++; translating complex theoretical algorithms into practical and bug-free software implementations; and developing and debugging multi-threaded software systems.

 

Alternate Requirements:

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or two (2) years of experience in a related occupation utilizing C++; translating complex theoretical algorithms into practical and bug-free software implementations; and developing and debugging multi-threaded software systems.
