Summary:

The Search team’s mission at ZipRecruiter is to help job seekers maximize their potential and find their next big opportunity. We do this by using engineering and Machine Learning to understand and discern the job seeker's intent and wants from their next job. This team is instrumental in building a product that infers data from a job seeker's profile, history, and needs to cast a wider net of great potential opportunities while surfacing the most relevant opportunities and content. The search team is focused on presenting results in a manner that ensures minimal user effort while controlling the fine balance between relevance and monetization

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the team to leverage concepts of Information Retrieval, Search Indexing, Query Processing, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, relevance & ranking to deliver on the mission
• Maintain and optimize search engines, identify ideas to evolve it, develop new features and benchmark possible solutions, improve search relevance, user experience and performance
• Write, test, instrument, and deploy code to our Kubernetes environment 
• Help drive the innovation and evolution of ZipRecruiter

Minimum Qualifications: 

• 4+ years of relevant experience in industry
• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with search engine technology and inverted indexes or ElasticSearch/SolR/Lucene/others
• Hands-on experience with Python
• Operational understanding of C++/Java
• Background in developing multi-tiered web applications using HTTP, JSON and REST APIs

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with embedding based search is highly desirable
• Database development experience using both Relational and NoSQL databases
• Knowledge in Data Streaming Frameworks (Kafka, Spark Streaming) is a plus
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, microservice architectures, containerization, cloud based hosting (AWS) and stateless service architectures
• Experience and desire to work in an Agile environment

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $140,000-$200,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, and the range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, role-related knowledge and skills, depth of experience, relevant education or training, and additional role-related considerations.

Depending on the position offered, equity, bonuses, commission, or other forms of compensation may also be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
