- Job Description
Agility Robotics is a pioneer. Our robot, Digit, is the first to be sold into workplaces across the globe. Our team is differentiated by its expertise in imagining, engineering, and delivering robots with advanced mobility, dexterity, intelligence, and efficiency -- robots specifically designed to work alongside people, in spaces built for people. Every day, we break through engineering challenges and invent new solutions and capabilities that will one day make robots commonplace and approachable. This work is our passion and our responsibility: our mission is to make businesses more productive and people’s lives more fulfilling.
About The Role
Our software team is growing rapidly and we are looking for talented engineers to join our small, agile, world-class team. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on diverse parts of our modern, high-performance robotics software stack, including simulation, sensing, APIs, visualization, and more. You will be expected to have a solid foundation in the skills necessary to contribute to many different technical focus areas within the software team and will be able to move around within the software organization based on interests and project requirements.
About The Work
- Contribute to the C++ software stack that powers our robots, spanning the full spectrum from high-level autonomy to interfacing with sensors and actuators
- Work as part of a topic-focused team (e.g. simulation, perception, manipulation) selected based on subject matter experience and personal interest
- Get hands-on experience running your code on our physical robots
- Participate in planning and executing major software development initiatives that bring new capabilities to our robots and/or improve software performance and reliability
- Collaborate with other highly-experienced software engineers
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and engineers with a research background who have deep subject-matter expertise but may still be learning industry best practices
- Work with other teams across the software organization to solve complex cross-functional problems
About You
- BS or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of software industry experience
- Experience writing modern C++ (17, 20)
- Experience writing Python (3.6+) or a demonstrated aptitude for learning new programming languages
- Experience with best practices for writing performant and maintainable software
- Experience using and programming for recent Linux systems
- Foundational understanding of linear algebra (e.g. matrix and vector operations)
- Experience developing complex software with many other contributors
- Experience with automated testing and continuous integration
- Ability to explore and learn about an existing software system beyond the boundaries of the specific parts that you regularly work on
- Ability to create your own work plan based on understanding deficiencies in the existing software system in the context of the team’s high-level objectives
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively both orally and in writing with other team members
- Authorization to work in the USA
Bonus Points
- Prior robotics industry experience
- Graduate degree in robotics or an adjacent field
- Substantial experience with any of the following topics:
- Real-time and low-latency systems
- Concurrent programming (multithreading, coroutines)
- C++/Linux compilation/linking/execution process
- Javascript (ES6+) executed in the browser
- 3D graphics programming
- Bazel or similar build systems
Benefits:
- Employer-matched retirement plan
- Stock Options possible for some exempt employees
