The role and the team

HelloFresh has expanded rapidly as a technology organization going from just over one hundred engineers to almost one thousand engineers in the last few years. As part of scaling as an engineering team, we’ve created a Foundations Alliance to be responsible for unleashing developer productivity across the company.

Our team builds the tools, services, systems, and infrastructure that teams all over the company (and in turn, all HelloFresh customers) use on a day-to-day basis. We are building platforms (cloud, mobile, design systems) for engineers to be able to quickly innovate while providing operational safety, security, and best practices out of the box. What you’ll do

• Build infrastructure automation on scale
• Own the solution-wide alerting strategy in the tech organization
• Optimize the incident management systems, policies, and procedures
• Ensure the engineering organization has self-service observability tools, and advocate for observability best practices
• Drive positive change in MTTD, MTTR and MTBF metrics
• Guide and educate the engineering organization about operations and reliability
• Remove toil in infrastructure through automation
• Pair with both your squad members and engineers in the greater organization to spread SRE knowledge and best practices
• Undertake measured, methodical troubleshooting of complicated systems

What you’ll bring

• Knowledge of scalable production architectures (config management, monitoring, infrastructure-as-a-code, load balancing, CDNs, distributed systems)
• Experience with Cloud Infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure), Kubernetes and most of the following technologies: Linux, Helm, Docker, Terraform, Graylog, Prometheus, Kafka, GitHub Actions, OpenTelemetry
• Good understanding of the SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs concepts
• Experience as a software developer [Python, Ruby or Go preferable]
• Familiarity with operations: metrics/statistics, incident management, post-mortems etc.
• You know what to monitor and alert when things go awry
• You LOVE to automate things

It would be beneficial if you also have the following:

• Experience building highly available and observable systems at scale
• Passion for mob programming and mentoring
