We’re starting with a planetary problem: the £500bn cement industry, that's currently responsible for 7% of global carbon emissions. Using our discovery processes, we've formulated a novel geopolymer cement that is carbon-neutral and superior to existing cements, by all measurable standards and now we’re taking this patented product to market. To do this, we’re partnering with some of the world's leading industrial materials companies.

To achieve these goals, we're now looking for a Senior Process Engineer to work with our Head of Process Engineering and specifying, designing, installing, commissioning and operating the pilot and commercial facilities. This is a great opportunity to shape the process from the early days, whilst making a significant contribution to our sustainable future. You will:

• Participate and lead the project delivery of the pilot plant and commercial scale facilities for manufacturing sustainable cementitious materials, from conceptual design to operation, including: feasibility studies, FEED, detailed design, installation, commissioning and operation
• Specify process routes and process equipment for the manufacturing of sustainable cementitious materials
• Develop mass and energy balance of the process, develop PFD and P&IDs, develop operating and control philosophies, perform process simulations
• Lead and participate on safety reviews (HAZOP, risk assessment etc) of the pilot and commercial scale plants
• Lead and participate on design reviews with internal and external stakeholders
• Prepare detailed plan and participate during the commissioning and operation of the pilot and commercial scale facilities
• Manage and work in close collaboration with contractors (EPC etc) and equipment suppliers for the safe and efficient delivery of the pilot and commercial scale facilities.
• Close collaboration with the R&D team for the scale up of the manufacturing process of cementitious materials form lab scale to pilot and commercial size plants
• Drafting operating instructions of different equipment and processes

It’s a fantastically varied role, which is at the forefront of our fast-moving business. It’s crucial to our future success and so will need:

• About 5 years’ experience in plant design, operations or design in the chemical industry (cement or mineral industries would be a bonus)
• Experience specifying or operating powder / solid handling equipment
• Project delivery from conceptual design to operation of plants
• Experience in P&ID development or review
• HAZOPs
