Spotify’s Global Commerce team is responsible for leading the growth, stability and strategic direction of Spotify’s approach to commerce globally. We act as central in-house specialists who support the rest of Spotify by setting up, managing and optimizing commerce across the company. Our commerce platform supports a multitude of business lines such as Premium, Ad Studio, Podcast Advertising, Live ticketing and more.

You will be part of the Commerce Partnerships team. We partner closely with both internal (e.g. Product, R&D, Legal, Finance, Customer Service, Subscriber Growth) and external stakeholders (e.g. PSPs, Payment Networks, APM providers, Issuers, and regulators) to provide the global payments service that enables our fans, creators and advertisers to pay and be paid. The team works directly with 25+ external partners to enable commerce across Spotify. A key aspect of this is selecting, negotiating and managing those partners to deliver value to Spotify.

Reporting into the Payment Networks and Issuer Partnerships Associate Director, you will help shape and maintain excellent relationships with our partners, built on trust and respect.
What You'll Do
  • Manage Spotify’s global partnerships with international and domestic payment networks
  • Contribute to & execute Spotify’s payment network strategy for 2025-2027
  • Explore new strategic opportunities and lead commercial negotiations to drive incremental gross adds / net subs and lower payment costs, maximising value for Spotify
  • Track new scheme rules/mandates, assess impact on Spotify’s business and define mitigation plans
  • Redefine our issuer engagement strategy, support the international growth optimization team and lead a portfolio of issuer relationships to assess new partnership opportunities
  • Analyze key metrics and derive actionable insights to optimise performance and resolve operational issues with card issuers globally
  • Collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders (commerce optimization, commerce operations, commerce fraud & analytics, legal, product, R&D, tax, accounting, etc.) to support Spotify’s payments strategy
  • Who You Are
  • Strong 5-8+ years of experience in payments/commerce
  • Substantial knowledge of the e-commerce payments space, gained in an account management or partnerships role at a large e-commerce merchant or issuing/acquiring/network related business
  • Skilled at leading and executing complex projects spanning multiple stakeholders in a large organisation
  • Strong business and commercial acumen, with great influencing skills and stakeholder management skills, who care about building trust and credibility at all levels
  • Significant experience in interacting collaboratively with colleagues in tech and product domains
  • You thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment and are comfortable with ambiguity
  • You are a proactive & passionate payment professional, who’s able to communicate effectively
