About the team and role:

Pinecone Assistant is a knowledge AI Agent that aims to provide grounded and accurate answers over complex multimodal data. Our customers use Assistant to build products like Real Estate Agents, e-commerce shopping Assistants, AI data analysts and many more.

Since the Beta launch in July, Pinecone Assistant is already serving over 3500 organizations and is growing. The team behind Assistant is a group of distinguished engineers and researchers with backgrounds in Machine Learning Engineering, Distributed Systems, Information Retrieval and Large Language Models. 

In this role, you will:

The Pinecone Knowledge Team is hiring an experienced Software Engineer to be the lead on Pinecone Assistant Interaction. This includes the following: 

• Assistant Playground Application - the gateway for developers and engineers to start building AI applications with Pinecone Assistant.

• API design - help shape the future interaction APIs for knowledge retrieval, chat interface and agentic workflows.

• SDK development - for the Assistant SDK and Evaluation toolkit.

• Developer tooling - to help engineers better integrate Assistant into their AI applications.

Previous experience in AI is not required - we are looking for a passionate, driven engineer who cares about developer experience.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience focused on full-stack web development.

• Strong background in modern web frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js, Typescript).

• Experience with back-end development (NodeJS, Rust, Python, or Go).

• Experience designing, building and maintaining RESTful APIs.

• Previous experience working on developer facing applications and tools.

• Extreme passion for AI and Developer Experience, deep understanding of why DevEx is so important in the world of AI.
