A Design Technologist operates in the intersection between code and design. They help us improve our foundations through translating design system concepts into reusable code while also helping us look into the future with prototypes to test new experiences with our users. They are proficient in a mix of development and prototyping platforms and tools and are responsible for selecting the most appropriate platform for the task. The front-end UX they build will also inspire leaders to invest in new ideas, and would guide developers in building the experience.

You will report to our Design Systems Manager  located in our Bellevue  office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

  • Be at the forefront of translating our design system across engineering and design teams
  • Develop and maintain resources for engineers and designers that help them understand, consume, and use the Design System
  • Adapt coded components to ensure they are re-usable by multiple engineering teams
  • Document creative and/or engineering standards and practices for design and its partners
  • Rapidly build and iterate on appropriate fidelity prototypes that express design intent using the most appropriate tools for the task
  • Actively participate in concept development and design iteration
  • Develop functional prototypes to prove and sell concepts to development teams, partners, and senior leadership
  • Create Figma plugins that help accelerate our UX designers in their work while ensuring consistency in our experiences

You Have:

  • 7+ Years of experience as a Design Technologist, Front-End Engineer, or UX designer
  • Experience driving user-centered or design thinking design process
  • Passion for creating systems that accelerate the work of engineers and designers
  • Passion for building positive relationships between product, design and engineering Online marketplace and multi-platform experience strongly preferred
  • Experience creating sharable coded components for a Design System
  • Experience using JavaScript and CSS frameworks, tools and workflow
  • Experience maintaining code repositories and helping others contribute
  • Experience with web, mobile web, and mobile app front-end development
  • Portfolio of prototype work that includes; design, high fidelity animation, motion, iconography, typography, imagery, and color
  • Bonus: Experience developing Figma plugins

Smartsheet provides a competitive range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $145,800 to $210,600 | All other US States: $135,000 to $195,000
