Senior Accountant - Asana

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, self-motivated individual to help us achieve our operational and financial goals. You will join a world-class Accounting and Finance team where you will be involved in all general areas of accounting, including month-end close, audit, SOX compliance, scalability initiatives, and other fun accounting challenges!

We’re looking for process improvers that can easily pick up the high level business goals and apply them to the accounting operations. There is a wealth of knowledge to be learned and we’re looking for a team player that is excited to jump right in!

What you’ll achieve:

• Subject matter expertise in accounting for accruals, including but not limited to: US operating expenses, global credit card and expense report accruals
• Own significant areas in the record to report process, including but not limited to: month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, supporting schedules, flux analysis, presentation to management, SEC reporting deliverables, and provide support for both internal and external audits
• Review lease accounting and ensure financial statement accuracy under ASC 842
• Draft technical accounting analysis, including the preparation of accounting memos
• Oversee and review the work of both internal and external team members
• Help manage, train, and coach our oversees team on month-end close and best practices
• Continuous improvement mindset: ability to identify pain points, research/propose possible solutions, and implement changes that support Asana’s growth
• Drive end to end process improvement and contribute to exciting accounting transformation projects to achieve availability and efficiency across processes and workflows
• Take full ownership over assigned areas and take on ad-hoc requests & projects as needed
• Execute efficient internal control document and sign-off procedures

About you: 

• 4+ years experience with at least 2 years of experience in public accounting and/or technical accounting role in a multinational public company or pre-IPO high growth company 
• Ability to be flexible and resourceful in response to changing priorities and needs
• Curious mindset with ability to drive end to end process improvement and automation initiatives
• Ability to build relationships across the organization while embracing different perspectives
• Detailed-oriented and able to work with large volumes of data with speed and accuracy
• Intermediate to advanced excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, index match, etc)
• Ability to self-check work and review the work of others
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and can apply knowledge to accounting operations
• Excellent oral & written communication, collaboration, and presentation skills 
• Impeccable time management with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to be a full cycle problem solver, from problem identification to solution achieved
• Experience with Coupa, Netsuite, Asana, & FloQast preferred
• Bachelor or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA preferred
