Job Description

During our 10-week summer internship program, you’ll join our Research team who utilize a wide range of expertise to conduct innovative research at an unprecedented scale and level of complexity. You will work closely with our Science Communication Senior Program Manager and other members of the Research and Communications teams to create and edit content about 23andMe’s research program. This content will be primarily for scientific audiences, but also may target the general public. With the world’s largest database of more than ten million genotyped customers, 23andMe is at the forefront of using human genetics to advance biomedical research and transform healthcare. Join our growing research team in translating genetic discoveries into insights into molecular biology of human traits and diseases. The dates for Cohort 1 will be June 5, 2023 - August 18, 2023; the dates for Cohort 2 will be June 20, 2023 - September 1, 2023.

What You'll Do

  • Create and edit content for scientific audiences about 23andMe’s research program
  • Depending on the applicant’s skills and interests, this may include social media posts, web pages, flyers, pdfs, slide decks, infographics, interviews, videos, and more.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong background in Genetics; current graduate student or senior undergraduate
  • Demonstrated interest in science communication, with some prior experience (e.g., classes taken, blog posts or articles written, social media channel managed, etc)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail around both scientific accuracy and design/formatting
  • Ability to adhere to timelines
  • Flexible and phenomenal teammate
  • Authorization to work in the US
