Risk Management Internship - Metropolis

The Role

We are seeking a Summer Intern to join the Metropolis Risk Management team, an amalgamation of claims, safety, and risk management professionals in a broad array of roles. Our mission includes reducing operational risks, protecting the financial interests of the company, and managing the total cost of risk.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analyze data, to provide informative reports with value-add recommendations.
• Update documents, spreadsheets, databases and diagrams as needed.
• Participate in strategy meetings and prepare policy renewal deliverables.
• Assembling and communicating Contractual requirements to internal and external parties and ensuring compliance.
• Assist Safety function in creating and distributing loss control material to Operations.
• Perform budgeting, forecasting and cost monitoring activities
• Maintain and monitor Key Risk Indicators.
• Gain experience in navigating property, casualty and management liability insurance, and surety markets.
• Shadow Broker, Actuary, Claims Administrator, Attorney and Underwriter.

Requirements  

• 3.3 GPA + 
• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree concentrated in Risk Management & Insurance or a related field.
• Driven personality with the ambition to learn the functions of corporate risk management.
• Experience working with data, interpreting the results, and making recommendations.
• Strong attention to detail, written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Experience with other data manipulation tools is a plus.
• Campus involvement/leadership.
• Ability to work full-time in our downtown Chicago Office for 10 weeks, starting in early Summer (hybrid work model).
