Job Summary

The Retail Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing a holistic retail marketing strategy for our existing 23 stores and scaling as we open new stores. The primary focus will be building brand awareness and driving traffic and sales for all stores. This position will work closely with the Marketing Manager, Merchandising, and Retail on the overall retail marketing strategy, execution of program tasks, maintaining program budgets, and providing weekly program reporting.

Job Functions

  • Supports Marketing Manager, Merchandising, and Retail in the day-to-day execution of retail marketing programs to drive store awareness and customer traffic, implementing local marketing strategy, new store grand opening events, and brand partnership programs.
  • Executes the day-to-day operations involved with developing and executing marketing initiatives. This includes owning the timeline and facilitating the creation and approval of marketing assets and deliverables between teams, internal and external.
  • Builds & maintains a strong collaborative partnership with external partners as well as the internal retail field team. This includes updating and maintaining contact lists, communicating all relevant initiatives with field and store teams, and addressing specific marketing and promotional needs promptly
  • Plans and coordinates with cross functional teams all Brand/Product launches, in-store events such as Pop-Ups and brand take-overs.
  • Works cross-functionally with internal partners in retail operations, visual merchandising, social media, and CRM teams to execute retail marketing initiatives. Liaise with creative teams to come up with branding ideas, graphic designs, promotional materials, and advertising copies.
  • Supports marketing activities by displaying expertise in certain areas such as events planning, advertising, optimization, and content development
  • Create content on social media channels and engage with customers/end users alike via social media.
  • Conducts market research to identify customer trends, competitor offerings and demographic data.
  • Helps research, plan, and execute local marketing and awareness initiatives for existing and new stores
  • Work with proximity search marketing platforms to ensure location listings are set up and optimized across Google, Yelp, Facebook, and various online listing sites

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-3 years related marketing experience; retail preferred.
  • Able to prioritize workflow, show initiative and be proactive
  • Able to think strategically and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to effectively prepare and present information and respond to questions from management, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Effective communicator with internal and external individuals
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite; Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Cannabis experience.
  • Retail experience
  • Capable of operating in a fast paced and ambiguous environment
  • Highly motivated team player and self-starter
  • You are comfortable in fluidity and can organize yourself in a remote working environment
  • You are always in problem solving mode and know how to extract lessons from setbacks

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Working Conditions

This job operates in a remote work environment and will require field days. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

This is a full-time position. Hours of work and days are 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m, Monday through Friday. Some weekend/holiday and overtime work required.

 

 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

Travel Requirements

This position requires minimal travel, but will require regular visits to stores for in-store events and activations.
