About LeafLink

LeafLink is the largest unified B2B cannabis platform, providing licensed cannabis businesses a suite of tools to manage their business more effectively, sell or order from their favorite brands and accelerate growth. We are one platform, one solution and we’re defining the way thousands of cannabis brands, distributors and retailers streamline their operations. With thousands of brands and retailers across 30+ markets in North America, we are setting the industry standard for how cannabis businesses grow together. LeafLink processes more than $4.4 billion in wholesale cannabis orders annually.

Our team, backed by funding from leading VC's, including Founders Fund, Thrive Capital, Nosara Capital, and Lerer Hippeau is poised to define the cannabis supply chain through technology.  LeafLink was named one of Inc. 5000’s ‘Top 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies’, one of Built In NYC's 'Best Places to Work in 2021', as well as one of Fast Company's 'Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Enterprise for 2020', joining the ranks of Amazon, Slack, and VMWare - and we're just getting started!

The Role

LeafLink is seeking a Public Policy Intern to assist with an array of projects. This role will report to our Director of Public Policy. The position can be based out of our HQ in New York (preferred) or be fully remote. LeafLink’s public policy mission is to create a healthy cannabis industry; one that is equitable and defined by efficiency, transparency, and choice. This individual will support LeafLink’s public policy mission by bolstering efforts to influence the federal and state regulatory frameworks and by helping drive policy initiatives that will advance LeafLink’s efforts to strengthen the cannabis industry, and most importantly LeafLink’s customers.

The ideal candidate must be action-oriented, resourceful, and have a direct but adept communication style. We expect everyone at LeafLink to be humble and get their hands dirty in day-to-day tasks while servicing the company and our customers above all else.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Track legislative and regulatory proposals covering a wide range of issues impacting the cannabis industry at all levels of government.
  • Conduct legislative and regulatory research and produce memos and talking points.
  • Support LeafLink’s engagement with state and federal trade associations and with external partners.
  • Draft and format written deliverables and other materials as assigned.
  • Assist in the upkeep of internal public policy materials (e.g., trackers, timelines, etc.)
  • Work strategically with cross-functional colleagues to support the work of the Public Policy team.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, not required.
  • Experience researching, analyzing, and evaluating policy issues, rules, regulations, and legislation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong skills in advocacy and using spoken and written rhetoric to persuade and inform.
  • Interest in the intersection of cannabis and policy.

LeafLink Perks & Benefits

  • $18/hour (max 30 hours/week)
  • If in NYC, daily in-office lunch stipend
