We’re looking for a seasoned Marketing & PR professional who is passionate about social impact to help grow the Purpose brand in the world & elevate positive impact through our work. You will continue to build the Purpose team’s reputation as innovators and thought leaders across the issues spaces like the environment & climate, public health, equity, education, mis- and disinformation, and democracy & human rights.

The person in this role will lead Purpose’s Marketing, PR, thought leadership, and external communications, with a goal of showcasing Purpose’s work, driving business development through the development of an outbound strategy, and positioning Purpose as a leader in the social impact space. 

We’re looking for folks who have a keen understanding of the global social impact space to help build Purpose’s profile and brand among nonprofit, corporate, government, and philanthropic partners. The person in this role will work collaboratively with all of Purpose’s global offices & senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have an excellent grasp of the media ecosystem, experience managing agile marketing teams, building big-picture brand strategy in collaboration with senior executives, experience leveraging digital media platforms and paid media to create brand recognition and generate leads, and experience building external media partnerships via press contacts.

This person will sit as a part of the Partnerships team at Purpose to drive business development. This role is offered at Associate Director level on a 1-year Fixed Term Contract to start. The salary range for this role is £65,000 - £75,000, with generous Paid Time Off and supplemental benefits. We are open to candidates based in and around London, willing to come into the office a few times a month.


RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the marketing team and overseeing all global external marketing and communications activities including:


  • Drive the strategic vision for marketing, communications, PR, and thought leadership, incorporating insights & steers from the Marketing team;
  • Partner with leadership across Purpose teams and offices to define global and regional communications strategies;
  • Develop detailed marketing plans, including content calendars, create collaborative processes for execution, and manage marketing budgets; 
  • Lead efforts to position the brand by maximising the impact of our website, speaking engagements, external materials, and social media;
  • Develop outbound marketing strategies that result in the generation of tangible business leads;
  • Develop processes to track brand growth across our markets;
  • Oversee conference and event strategy development with the marketing and partnerships teams, leveraging public profiles of senior leadership team members.


  • Manage existing relationships with media partners and develop new contacts with key editors, journalists and key leaders in digital and traditional media;
  • Manage placement of Purpose projects and achievements in external outlets;
  • Lead all press efforts, acting as point of contact for any external parties; 
  • Collaborate regularly with regional leads and project teams to elevate Purpose’s innovative campaigns and offerings and enhance brand positioning;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of key awards, events and conferences that could be leveraged to advance Purpose’s profile externally;
  • Act as point of contact with our parent company on all marketing efforts.


  • Direct the external marketing and communications team as they execute day to day social media content creation and posting, website updates, blogs, newsletters, and other digital marketing activities;
  • Oversee, support and approve the development of social media content and strategies; 
  • Mentor and support junior team members with a commitment to their professional development. 



  • 8+ years experience working in marketing/ public relations, including specific experience in the social impact space;
  • Experience with digital platforms: Google Ads, Facebook/ Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Social Media analytics tools;
  • A proven ability of creating big-picture brand strategy and building a press/content calendar; 
  • A proven ability to develop media strategies that have landed in the largest social impact, local, national and global publications & websites;
  • Extensive experience in PR & in the social impact sector, press contacts in the digital and traditional media industry, and experience with direct placement;
  • A passion for the world’s most pressing social issues like  public health, civil rights, climate, racial equity, education, misinformation, impact measurement, brand purpose, and inclusive design; 
  • Experience communicating with diverse audiences from activists to corporates in thought leadership & social media;
  • Eligibility to work in the country of residence, and travel as needed;
