About Diagnostics at Owkin
Our ambition is to potentiate precision diagnosis in oncology with artificial intelligence applied to digital pathology. Pathology slide images, taken from biopsied or resected tissues, are a yet-untapped, ultra-high dimensional data modality that offer a huge potential for deep learning application to better understand disease, optimize patient care & improve treatment decisions.
We are working with various actors in the industry to form a consortium and tackle together the challenges of digital pathology in clinical practice. These actors represent the academia, private pathology labs, and industry players.
We are now looking for a Diagnostics Pipeline Manager to oversee early stage projects through the top of the product development pipeline.
About the role
By identifying and prioritizing diagnostics products development, the Diagnostics Pipeline Manager will be a major contributor to the success of the overall Diagnostics team’s activity.
They will also be key for the success of this cutting edge multi-player project, led by Owkin, in collaboration with pathology labs, academic partners, industry partners, and institutional funding partners. They will report to the Consortium Project Manager, and will also work closely with the Strategy Manager.
To apply state-of-the-art Machine Learning technologies to the most ambitious medical challenges (ex: development of advanced pathology biomarkers, diagnostic tools, etc), you’ll work directly with a variety of key stakeholders with different backgrounds:
- from all teams across Owkin (business, data science, medical, product, operations, finance, etc),
- from external stakeholders, namely health professionals (pathologists, oncologists, etc.) and AI / data science experts
The role is based in our office is Paris, Nantes or remotely in France.
In particular, you will:
- Manage early stage projects from model selection to model training, and be responsible for their delivery, including coordinating with partnership team to help in data needs assessment
- Present model results at regular "stage gate" project reviews
- Maintain current insights in unmet medical needs in therapeutic areas of interest to propose most relevant models to develop:
- through direct KOL (key medical opinion leader) engagement and interviews
- through secondary research (e.g. performing literature review and gathering business intelligence on ongoing and planned clinical trials, current and changing practices in the lines of treatment, in both France and foreign countries)
About you
Required qualifications / experience:
- A Masters or PhD degree in Biomedical science, Business, Engineering, or equivalent degree which combines business and medical/biological sciences
- 2 years of experience in life sciences, business, medical devices or the healthcare industry; general understanding of AI and its use in healthcare is a plus
- You have a good business acumen
- You have a good understanding of the health sector
- You are highly organized and meticulous about details
- You are able to interact with people of different backgrounds
- You are passionate about the intersections of healthcare and AI - basic knowledge of software development is a plus
- Fluency in English is a prerequisite; additional language skills in French are preferred
- Excited to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Strong plus: exposure to strategy, innovation management
