Role Summary

Marketing Managers play a critical role in driving ZipRecruiter’s growth. We run media across a wide variety of channels, and you’ll be the front lines of decision making to scale those channels efficiently. 

In this role, you will serve as the “General Manager” for Audio with ownership on decision-making to grow spend and acquire customers efficiently across audio channels (e.g., podcast, terrestrial, streaming). This includes budget allocation and forecasting, media buying and optimization, creative campaign planning, performance reporting, and agency / vendor management. This role will report to the Sr. Manager of Marketing. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Exercise independent judgment to manage budgets and strategy across audio with a focus on direct response best practices
    • Research target customer behavior, audience trends, ratings and impressions to proactively identify new opportunities
    • Manage budget allocation, forecasting and month-end spend reconciliation
    • Optimize media mix to hit performance goals
    • Improve ad performance and measurement through rigorous optimization testing (e.g., A/B, blackout)
    • Monitor industry and competitor trends to inform strategy 
  • Manage media buying agencies to scale efforts, optimize costs and extract added value from vendors where possible based on media commitments 
  • Negotiate media buys and annual contracts through agency and/or directly
  • Regularly monitor performance of campaigns in collaboration with analytics and external measurement and attribution partners 
  • Partner cross-functionally with marketing, creative, product, sales, analytics to build a cohesive channel strategy that considers cross-channel influences and broader company goals 
  • Implement creative optimization and messaging tests to drive campaign performance and brand value within your channel(s)
    • Serve as the primary stakeholder for creative development working with the creative team to review and approve assets until final; this includes initiating creative briefs, testing methodology, and reporting on creative insights and results 
  • Report on channel strategy and results to senior execs including VP/SVP of Marketing and C-Suite

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years work experience at a high-performing, data-driven agency or marketing organization, preferably managing audio campaigns 
  • Highly analytical problem solver who is comfortable working with messy data to arrive at actionable insights
  • Able to effectively communicate with partners (internal & external) to determine, execute and report on campaign strategy \
  • Innovative and open to championing new strategies, processes, methods or vendors
  • Capable of owning campaigns from start to finish and staying accountable to objectives
  • Thrives in a fast paced environment and comfortable juggling multiple projects at once
  • Detail oriented and organized management style that produces high quality work 
  • Collaborative mindset, with a blend of humility and confidence; consistently seeking feedback on how to improve and able to respectfully challenge others on the team
  • Strong familiarity with MS Excel, Google Docs and the rest of the MS Office Suite

Bonus Points:

  • Diverse experience across in-house, agency, and publisher organizations
  • Experience with B2B and/or marketplace brands
  • Experience with SQL

The US base salary range for this temporary position is $82,500-$125,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, and the range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, role-related knowledge and skills, depth of experience, relevant education or training, and additional role-related considerations.

Depending on the position offered, equity, bonuses, commission, or other forms of compensation may also be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
