About the role
Foxglove is the leading data and observability platform for robotics. Our open source software is used by thousands of robotics engineers, product managers, and operators, and we're rapidly scaling to meet this demand. Our commercial product helps companies get robots to market faster, by organizing their data and streamlining collaboration.
We're a small yet highly effective team of builders and operators. Our team has experience scaling teams and products at leading robotics and autonomous vehicle companies, cloud providers, and hypergrowth decacorn startups. Weโre looking to hire our first Sales/Solutions Engineer, who will be responsible for creating the Solutions Engineering function at Foxglove as we scale Go-To-Market.. This is an important cross-functional role, and will initially report directly to the Head of Sales.
As our Lead Sales Engineer, you will:
- Build a deep understanding of all aspects of the Foxglove stack and how it is used in robotics and autonomous vehicle development workflows
- Respond to prospect and customer inquiries, reproduce and troubleshoot issues, build integrations, and ultimately help us to close new contracts and drive expansion
- Share your technical and product expertise with customers through blog posts, tutorials, documentation, conference talks, and demos
- Design and conduct in-person and webinar training sessions
- Drive customers through the technical evaluation process with defined and objective proof of concepts
- Create systems and processes that will define the Solutions Engineering function at Foxglove
- Partner with Founders, Engineering and Design to provide input into our product roadmap and strategy
Location
We're a small, remote-only company, with staff on 4 continents. We meet daily to connect socially, brainstorm, and share progress. For this position, we're looking for someone based in the United States with the ability to travel regularly for customer meetings and conferences.
What we're looking for
- 7+ years in software engineering or similar roles
- 3+ years experience closing deals in customer facing pre or post sales positions such as Sales / Solutions / Customer Engineering
- Ability to earn trust with and befriend everyone from IC's to VP's of Engineering and CTO's
- Deep understanding of cloud architecture, preferably across multiple cloud providers
- Experience with Terraform and Kubernetes
- Ability to write integration code in multiple languages, such as Python/Go/C++/TypeScript
- Passion for selling technical tools with engineers as the primary users
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Able to travel via car, train, or air up to 33% of the time
Bonus points
- Understanding of robotics (e.g. ROS) and/or ML development workflows or the ability to learn it quickly through self study
- Experience with observability stacks - e.g. Datadog, Dynatrace, Appdynamics, Honeycomb, New Relic, etc
What we offer
- On target earnings (OTE) for this role is $175,000 to $225,000, regardless of location.
