Head of Regulatory & Legal - Conduit

About the work:

Our Head of Regulatory & Legal, will ensure that Conduit operates within the law at all times, offer counsel on legal and regulatory issues, be an effective guardian of the organization and facilitate business strategy development. The successful candidate will ensure our regulatory compliance and limit risk exposure so the business can operate and expand. Our company is geographically distributed, featuring the opportunity to collaborate with co-workers across the world. This is a remote position (work from home) that can be based anywhere in the US

What you'll do in this role:

• Build the legal and compliance function for Conduit from the ground up
• Provide expert and strategic legal advice to the Executive Team on compliance requirements for new products and geographic entry barriers in new markets
• Manage, communicate, and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, clients etc.), creating relations of trust as it relates to regulatory compliance
• Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action to provide holistic, thoughtful strategies
• Base your decision-making process on ethics and integrity
• Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes as it relates to Conduit
• Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations

What we’re looking for:

• 8+ years of experience in financial services regulation
• Experience interpreting regulatory/licensing requirements for crypto and securities in the US as well as internationally
• Goal-oriented and able to be tasked with solving a problem, then fully committing resources to achieve a clear answer
• High degree of professional ethics, integrity with sound judgment and ability to analyze situations and information
• Excellent negotiation and communications skills
• Analytical ability and strong attention to detail
• Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
• Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization
• Have some technical knowledge of international AML/CFT, sanctions, and ABAC compliance regulations, sanctions, lending, product development, etc
• Experience in building out a compliance team. Specifically, compliance roles that own financial crime prevention and operational work related to compliance programs and policies.
