Head of Legal EMEA

Adyen is seeking a seasoned legal professional who is able to lead and scale our functional legal teams in EMEA (i.e. commercial legal team, corporate legal team and data privacy team) and help grow our business in a sustainable way. The teams you will lead play a critical role in Adyen’s Legal Control Framework ensuring Adyen’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations and ensuring Adyen has efficient and effective legal management practices in place.

What you’ll do

  • Lead 3 different teams of legal professionals focused on respectively, commercial legal matters, corporate legal matters and data privacy.
  • Drive collaboration with various Adyen stakeholders around the globe, ensuring that legal matters are effectively and efficiently managed.
  • Provide senior management with actionable advice on how to effectively scale legal management practices to allow for further growth of the company.
  • Further define and execute Adyen’s legal strategy, including the addition and integration of new financial products and services.
  • Hire, coach and develop staff to ensure and maintain high performance.

What you bring

  • A minimum of 7 years in a senior leadership role, and 10+ years in your legal career.
  • Excellent and direct communicator who talks straight without being rude.
  • Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to remain flexible to change within the work environment and scope of responsibility.
  • Ability to gather appropriate input and make clear, well-reasoned decisions.
  • You have the ability to structure and prioritize in a high volume, fast-paced environment and drive a process to completion.
  • You can use technology and data to automate and scale key processes.
