Team & Work Summary

As part of the Product Engineering team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation email security product experience. 

Working in a small, cross-functional engineering team, you will work closely with our customers, product, and engineering to collaborate, influence, and impact products that our customers use every single day. As a full stack engineer on this team you’ll find yourself having a tangible influence on core pillars of our company strategy.

We are building the world’s best email security products that improve security analysts' productivity and delight customers. This is our foundational product and key to Abnormal’s success. 90% of cyber attacks start with an email–work on a fundamental problem in cybersecurity to change the game in what email security can do.

This engineering team is responsible for being the bridge between Customer Success and Engineering.

Who you are:

  • New or recent grad
  • Strong communication skills
  • High enthusiasm

What you’ll do:

  • Work across the whole stack and quickly acquire wide breadth of knowledge and skills
  • Work in different parts of the codebase, debugging issues, looking through logs and other data, fixing bugs, and making small- to medium-sized enhancements.
  • Build customer-focused internal tooling
  • Eventually, you will have an opportunity to move internally in order to start developing expertise in a specific area of interest

Experience you’ll need:

  • Solid computer science fundamentals
  • Have 1–2 years of experience in software engineering OR a couple of internships at companies known for their technical strength
  • Experience working on non-trivial Python (ideally Django) and JavaScript/TypeScript projects. Could be a school project, an internship project, or a personal open source project
  • Bonus points:
    • Experience working with production databases: PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc. 
    • Experience working asynchronously, across different time zones
    • Experience with Go
    • Experience with the AWS stack
