Overview:The Executive Director, Strategic Financial Planning is responsible for assisting the CFO and members of senior corporate and finance leadership in designing and modeling financial and corporate strategic decisions for Coherus BioSciences. Through meticulous, insightful analysis and influential communication and interpersonal skills, the position will guide senior management in analyzing business decisions and programs related to our strategy.
Coherus is a rapidly growing, commercial stage biotechnology company with a portfolio of approved products and international partnerships spanning multiple therapeutic areas. The Company’s strategy is to build a leading oncology franchise funded with cash generated through revenues from the portfolio of FDA-approved products.
The Executive Director, Strategic Financial Planning is willing to “roll their sleeves up” to assist senior executive leadership in the evaluation of growth strategies and capital needs. A successful applicant will have significant experience in and an understanding of biopharma corporate finance and modeling of strategic alliances, partnerships, deals, licensing, and capital transactions.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
- Building relevant models in partnership with colleagues from financial planning and senior leadership, to help inform corporate strategic decisions. Scenario modeling includes (but is not exclusive to):
- Product NPVs
- Corporate development deal modeling
- Financial product offerings (IRR or NPV)
- Long range plan P&L impact
- Long range plan cash flow impact
- Developing executive level financial impact framing, analytics and communication with internal and external audiences, including the Board of Directors, Partners, and Investors.
- Coordinating necessary cross-functional inputs from R&D, Commercial, Legal, Corporate Development, and Finance.
- Evaluating capital requirements for the Company’s growth strategies.
- Partnering with business development and other functions to evaluate all financial aspects of existing and prospective corporate partnerships, alliances for organizational and operational optimization.
- Supporting CFO and SVP, Finance with long-range planning and budgeting process to support corporate goals and objectives.
- Translate strategic thinking into financial modeling which can be modified with various scenarios and translate into weekly financial dashboards for the senior leadership.
- Tracking critical issues/key milestones as they arise throughout the organization, with an understanding of their potential impact to the financial strategy.
- Tracking current market and industry trends, regulations and policies, and advise on their impact on Corporate Financial Strategy.
- Travel as required, both domestically and internationally, to support financial strategy objectives and activities.
Experience, Education, Training, Traits:
- BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in economics, finance or mathematics; MBA is preferred.
- 7 – 10 years of experience in biopharma investment banking or corporate finance.
- Demonstrated high level of leadership and managerial skills.
- Proven ability to distill complex analysis and data into understandable and actionable insights.
- Outstanding organizational, communication and presentation skills.
- Politically savvy and able to work effectively with a variety of different leadership styles.
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
- Must have excellent corporate financial model skills with the ability to build complex and dynamic financial models and to iterate scenario models rapidly.
- Must have excellent MS PowerPoint skills.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and project management skills.
- Occasional travel required.
The Base Salary Range for this position is $245,000 - $280,000. Coherus considers various factors, including professional background and work experience, when determining base pay. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
