About the Team

The Search Experience Team is a full stack team working on improving DoorDash user’s experience searching and exploring on DoorDash, helping users find restaurants, food dishes, stores and merchandise DoorDash has to offer. We build product features like Global Search Bar, Vertical Search, Cuisine Filters, and Autocomplete, as well as some of the platform and infrastructure to support them. These are critical product surface areas in the DoorDash Marketplace and are sources of significant engineering and business opportunities and impacts.

About the Role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Search Experience team. You will be working with engineers as well as cross-functional partners like Product Manager, Operation and Strategy, Data Science/Analytics, etc to build the Search products. You will collaborate with other engineering teams like Search Quality, Search Platform, Discovery, Client Platform, etc to build well designed, meticulously executed, and reliably operated distributed systems, pipelines, and tools to take DoorDash Search to a new level. You will lead and grow a full-stack team with both backend and frontend engineers.

Build the Vision and Strategy

  • Building the engineering vision and strategy for DoorDash Search product experiences.

Plan and Execute

  • Partnering up with cross-functional members like Product, Operation & Strategy and Data Science/Analytics to align on the goals for the team.
  • Planning and roadmapping for the team to build a clear path to the goal.
  • Building processes for tracking the execution, managing sprints.
  • Rolling up your sleeves with hands-on contributions when necessary.

Build the Team

  • Understanding the team talent needs, recruiting and retaining engineers.
  • Understanding the team knowledge distribution, building plans to close gaps and reduce risks.
  • Recruiting and retaining talented software engineers.
  • Keeping up with the team’s engineering needs and improving team efficiency.
  • Coaching, mentoring and providing career guidance, managing performance.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have a minimum of 2 years of engineering management experience leading a team of 6+ (EM or TLM).
  • You had direct engineering experience (Senior+) on Internet-scale distributed systems and consumer-facing products.
  • You had experience working closely with product management and conducting user experiments.
  • You have a product mindset and apply that to how you would build out platform services.
