The Director, Social Media is the guiding force behind a robust social team that is expected to deliver industry-leading, top-quality, work that exceeds our clients’ expectations. This role works closely with our Entertainment Social team on award winning campaigns. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of leading a large social team that has executed multifaceted social campaigns for top-tier clients in the entertainment and brand space and is expected to bring with them established client relationships and a track record of outperforming sales goals in previous leadership positions. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and oversee the development and execution of innovative, strategic thoughtful, culture-first social media and digital campaigns, that solve client business challenges through creative content-driven storytelling
  • Work closely with the Creative Department head to ensure continuity between creative output and social strategy/execution for all campaigns
  • Act as a true client partner—developing a deep understanding of the client, their business, competitors, and challenges—leading the internal team and the client-business as if it were your own
  • Drive the creation of scopes, SOWs, and staffing plans for a wide array of client projects—ensuring that resourcing aligns with client goals and expectations
  • Play a lead role—working closely with creative leadership—to drive forward the development of robust new business pitches and execute first-to-market campaigns that bring to life best-in-class social media ideas, as well as integration into other key marketing services
  • Establish project policies and guidelines to assure that client and campaign best practices are being followed, and identify and present solutions for any internal agency process challenges which may hinder the delivery of successful work.
  • Review and ensure all campaigns and social content are in line with the client needs, briefs, and creative direction, while ensuring that all creative meets both the strategic and business goals for the client; provide approvals and feedback on key initiatives, presentations, and work output
  • Play a lead role in developing new streams of business with existing clients—identifying areas to upsell and secure additional opportunities.
  • Play a lead role in driving forward new business pitches and presentationsUnderstand and help to construct client specific KPI measurement and attribution frameworks that link social metrics (such as brand affinity, engagement, reach, etc.) to client business goals (such as conversion, signups, app downloads, traffic, etc.)
  • Manage direct social media team reports who design social strategies, execute daily posting, manage content calendars, and engage with and manage social communities.Educate and mentor Social Account Managers, Social Strategists, Community Managers, and Social Coordinators in all of the essential areas of their roles and drive the entire team’s projects and learning.
  • Foster individual development of staff and defining career path steps for their personal growth and value to the department.
  • Collaborate with internal Strategy/Ops Team leaders to chart the future course of the team
    Lead departmental performance 
  • Lead annual performance review process for the department


  • 10+ years of experience in the social / digital media space required, particularly working with clients and developing business within a digital marketing agency
  • 5+ years of experience managing direct reports and a track record of mentoring a diverse team
  • Success in building high-performance teams, motivating and fostering a collaborative, results-driven cross-disciplinary organization
  • Demonstrated ability to grow a book of business and expand a team
  • Extensive experience across key social media properties including, but not limited to, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
  • Experience working with Social Campaigns for Entertainment entities 
  • Content distribution expertise spanning owned, earned, and paid digital channels 
  • Knowledge and experience with back-end publishing, analytics, and social listening tools
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle scope and resources to meet deadlines consistently and plan for growth / unanticipated needs
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • A deep understanding of client businesses and how to connect and leverage social strategy and tactics to solve key client challenges
  • Experience identifying new business and upsell opportunities with current clients—and leading the development of client pitches and presentations for new business opportunities
  • Superior presentation and communication skills, with experience presenting to VP, Senior VP, and C-suite level executives
  • Strong storytelling abilities and skilled in communicating and distilling down nuanced, complex strategic campaign concepts through logical and well thought out presentations
  • A strong understanding of data and how to leverage insights to build a compelling campaign narrative with a proven record of infusing data into activation ideas and plans
  • Understanding of paid media principles and paid media planning fundamentals a plus but not required
  • Strong proficiency in the Google Suite: Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc. 
  • Must have strong people management skills - able to positively lead a team and influence others
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

The anticipated salary range for this position is $150,000 - $160,000 annually. Salary is determined by a combination of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, generous paid time off, and other benefits also are available.
