Director of Total Rewards

As the Director of Total Rewards at Redwood Materials, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and oversight of our compensation strategy and pay programs. You will work closely with cross functional partners and senior leaders in a rapid-growth environment, leveraging expertise and insight to drive total rewards solutions throughout the company that support employees and align with business goals.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and establish the strategic direction for total rewards programs that are market competitive and supportive of overall business objectives, working collaboratively with stakeholders and senior leaders.

  • Manage relationships with external vendors (e.g. benefits providers), negotiate contracts and ensure quality service(s).
  • Develop Redwood’s compensation strategies, including job evaluation, salary structure, equity and incentive program design, and market analysis for all business units.
  • Design, develop, implement and manage scalable compensation programs that are data-driven and in compliance with local, state, federal, and international laws and regulations.
  • Serve as a strategic consultant to the business, driving changes to total rewards programs using benchmarking data, functional expertise and market trends.
  • Partner with business leaders and the HR and recruiting team on all total rewards and compensation related matters as needed (e.g. offers, promotions, annual benefits enrollment, internal transfers).
  • Manage the annual salary planning process (e.g. merit increases, promotions, equity, etc.) and routine compensation audits to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
  • Leverage analytics and innovative tools when determining total rewards strategies and ensure that the programs are well communicated and understood throughout the business.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of total rewards leadership experience with expertise in base pay, equity and variable compensation programs, as well as benefits packages (e.g. health insurance) preferably in a startup environment.
  • Proven ability to build and implement compensation programs in a scaling organization, including job defining and leveling, salary grading, benchmarking analysis, market reporting and analysis, promotion processes, and employee equity programs.
  • Technical proficiency with HR systems, compensation analysis tools, equity programs, and compensation cost modeling.
  • Experience negotiating with and managing the services of external benefits providers.
  • An expert in compensation strategy (base/bonus/equity, pay for performance, benchmarking/market data, etc.), with an ability to collaborate cross functionally and influence organizational leaders to drive change.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, federal and international compensation and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale, drive, and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment while leveraging data and analytics.
  • Passion for sustainability and contributing to positive change.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
