Basic Function

The Director of HSE and Process Development role includes management and operation of the company’s safety and sustainability operations. In this portion of the role, you will also be responsible for working with third party EPCs and O&M providers for projects in the United States to ensure optimal performance of the company’s solar plants with respect to HSE and Sustainability. For process development, you will work with various internal customers and stakeholders to drive processes development and improvements. This position reports to the VP of Operational Excellence.

Responsibilities

         Sustain and improve HSE program that meets Industry and OSHA standards to ensure our projects and offices exceed expectations and requirements.

         Continuous monitoring, coaching and incident management needs of our employees and leaders.

         Ensure compliance with statutory requirements from agencies such as Federal and California OSHA, EPA, DTSC, and local regulatory agencies.

         Develop and lead ESG program.

         Develop ESG goals; develop programs and initiatives to help achieve goals and establish the correct KPIs to measure performance against goals.

         Drive process development working with functional leaders and stakeholders. Always looking for continuous improvement path to improve corporate and functional processes.

         Using leading and trailing safety metrics identify the most effective hazard/risk reduction strategies and execution plans.

         Design and implement safety site audits to identify risks and implement solutions.

         Implement a system that reduces and prevents injuries and identifies environmental non compliances.

         Innovate the process for reporting, investigating and communicating accidents, hazards and concerns.

         Manage HSE and ESG related KPIs and Dashboard.

         Develop and improve methods that ensure alignment with company safety expectations and provide early warning indicators.

         Drive audit process at all locations nationally resulting in risk and incident reduction.

         Design, launch and standardize processes for ergonomics, risk assessment and safely leadership/coaching, equipment safeguarding and injury prevention.

·       Develop and improve SOPs.

 Qualifications

         Bachelor’s degree or preferably a master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, industrial safety management or relevant field.

         10+ years of progressive HSE, ESG management and successful Process development experience in multi-location renewable and/or energy construction.

         5 years minimum leadership experience.

         Fluent knowledge of OSHA regulations is required.

         Proficiency with state-specific safety requirements is highly desired (especially in California, Texas).

         Certifications as an ISO auditor and DOT & Hazardous Materials, and other industrial related certification a plus.

         Regulatory and compliance experience preferred.

         Successfully managed distributed teams.

         Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels.

         Project management, root cause analysis problem solving ability.

         Demonstrated strategic perspective with ability to lead with data and implement with results.

         Proven experience and leadership in implementing Innovative, HSE and ESG solutions.

         Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

         Experience working with a distributed, non-exempt field-based population is highly desired.

         Knowledge of the Oracle Primavera Unifier tool will be a plus.

         Travel up to 15% of the time.

 

Location: San Francisco Bay Area; San Diego, CA; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; preferred. Open to remote work.

Base Pay - $150,000 - $180,000

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, such as skill set, experience, certifications, specific work location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Base pay may vary per location due to differences in the cost of living.

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual discretionary bonus, full Health & Wellness Benefits package, generous Long Term Incentive plan designed with our partnership mentality in mind, and other applicable incentive perks as outlined in any formal offer made. The final compensation package will be discussed with the candidate during the final stages of the hiring process.
