Custodian

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, cleaning and mopping floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience/Education

  • Less than high school; 1 year previous experience required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to understand verbal instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate objects up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

PPE

May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump-caps, gloves, hair nets, masks, & clean-room frocks while adhering to the prescribed safety procedures. Ear Plugs are recommended in areas of high noise levels that meet minimum OSHA requirements.

Physical Demands – Office

Position requires physical activity with regular and routine dusting, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash and cleaning restrooms and routine maintenance to custodial equipment.You must be able to move around the facility with ease. May be required to balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. You should be able to lift and/or move objects generally 20 lbs. or less, including carrying them up and down stairs. This position also requires you to operate custodial equipment that requires reaching, handling, pulling, or pushing of machines or machine parts. Specific vision abilities are necessary, including close, distance, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment – Manufacturing/Shop Environment

Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and skin exposure to chemicals used to run/maintain machines.
