This role is based on-site in Redwood City (Redwood Shores), California
The Role
Seer is seeking a Bioinformatics Software Scientist, to join the software team, responsible for qualifying Seer’s, cloud-based, customer analytical software products.This is an exciting opportunity to be the Scientific owner of Seer’s advanced proteomics cloud computing platform, steering R&D activities and customer collaborations.Additionally, it is an integral component in migrating and validating internal research activities to a customer facing product.The ideal candidate will have relevant bioinformatics and software development experience, testing and releasing scalable software products in a cloud environment in addition to a track record of life-sciences/pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry accomplishments.
Responsibilities & Goals
- Collaborate with Data Engineering Research team to develop new algorithms and analytical tools for scalable proteomics data analysis
- Analyze and interpret proteomics data generated by the software platform
- Collaborate with software developers and other team members to troubleshoot issues and identify areas for improvement.
- Test and Validate the cloud-scalable proteomics software platform following product requirements and specifications.
- Work closely with the product owner to help define new features and requirements.
- Support the customer experience team in resolving customer data issues.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in proteomics bioinformatics and contribute to the development of new algorithms and analytical tools
- Write technical reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders
Background & Qualifications
- MS or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, proteomics, or a related field
- Minimum 3+ years experience in the life sciences industry
- Demonstrated expertise in proteomics data analysis and bioinformatics
- Experience qualifying algorithms and analysis pipelines software, preferably life science analytics software platforms.
- Experience with cloud computing and software development is a plus
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java
- Experience with proteomics software tools such as DIA-NN, Fragpipe or other proteomics software tools a strong plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Results-driven, highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong collaborative working skills

At Seer, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150k and $180k and will depend on the candidate's education, skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This position is also eligible for bonus, benefits, and participation in Company’s stock option plan.
