Our Therapeutics team in South San Francisco leverages this data to discover and develop new treatments that can offer significant benefits for patients with serious, unmet medical needs.

This dedicated research and drug development group identifies novel targets using 23andMe's genetic database and performs preclinical research to advance programs towards clinical development. We currently have programs across several therapeutic areas, including but not limited to oncology, respiratory, and cardiovascular diseases. We are seeking an outstanding Associate Scientist or Sr. Associate Scientist to join a collaborative, cross-functional team responsible for the biological characterization of drug targets and the preclinical development of drug compounds. Successful candidates will bring hands-on experience in rodent disease models, PD, and PK studies.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Design and conduct in vivo studies to support therapeutic drug development in disease models as well as in PD and PK studies
  • Develop and validate new in vivo models as required
  • Interpret, record, and present complex biological data
  • Communicate and collaborate with other colleagues effectively
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in biological sciences or related field (PhD a plus)
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with animal models of disease
  • Extensive experience with drug delivery procedures (IV, IP, SC, PO) and blood and tissue collection
  • Ability to work collaboratively on multiple projects, concurrently
  • Proficiency in animal welfare and local, state, and federal guidelines for animal care and use in research
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with an ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Highly organized, motivated, and self-initiated, with ability to prioritize and solve challenges
  • Ability to adapt and respond to a fast-paced, dynamic environment while achieving progress with high scientific rigor and integrity
  • Critical thinking with high degree of innovative and analytical skills

 

Strongly Preferred

  • Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience with antibody therapeutics
  • Background in immuno-oncology

Note: Job title will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials.
