Job Description:

The Associate Director or Director of iPSC Developmental Biology will lead a highly dynamic and fast-paced team in the discovery and development of epigenetically programmed iPSC-derived cells for off-the-shelf cell therapeutics.  The candidate for this role will have a demonstrated track record in leading innovative research efforts and moving candidates from discovery into pipeline projects in an industry setting.  Additionally, a depth of experience with the developmental biology of multiple cell lineages will underpin the scientific guidance for the team navigating multiple cell product concepts.  Finally, the ideal candidate will embrace calculated risk-taking initiative, a collaborative team-oriented approach, and strategic urgency to promote accelerated progress across team efforts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely completion of team objectives and milestones
  • Provide scientific and strategic guidance for team initiatives
  • Oversight of experimental design, execution and data analysis
  • Work with program leadership to align team initiatives with program goals
  • Assist with budget and resource allocation
  • Ensure data documentation, integrity and organization for cross-functional initiatives
  • Work with other team leads to coordinate workstreams across functional groups.
  • Manage 3-5 direct reports
  • Provide leadership presence in company and department activities and events

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • PhD in Developmental Biology or related discipline with 10+ years of experience (MS with 13 years or BS with 15 years ) for a Director level or 6+ years of experience (MS with 11 years or BS with 13 years) for an Associate Director level
  • Extensive knowledge or direct experience working with iPSC models of cellular development across multiple lineages.
  • Knowledge or direct experience with functional and phenotypic assessment of mature cells across multiple lineages.
  • Experience in leading research effort in setting of gene-engineered cell therapy drug development.
  • Demonstrated capability for driving cutting edge innovation with high standards of scientific rigor.
  • Expertise in use and data analysis from a broad array of analytical methods, including cellular imaging (flow cytometry, microscopy, etc), metabolomics (Seahorse bioanalyzer, etc), and other specialized approaches.
  • Ability to lead dynamic initiatives with strategically prioritize complex workflows to achieve team objectives.

 

The starting compensation range for this role is from $150,000-$180,000 annually for a Associate Director or $165,000-$210,000 annually for a Director (adjusted for location), based on skills, education and experience that is relevant to the position. Other components of total compensation include annual bonus and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).
