Role overview:

Your role would be to assist Gather in exploring a 3-Dimensional look for our virtual office maps. Gather is a small team right now and that means every artist and designer has an extremely significant role in shaping and executing on the vision of the company, so the expertise you will bring to our team will significantly impact how a Gather 3-D space will appear on our platform. You will work under the Arts & Mapmaking manager, alongside other creatives working hard every day to imagine the future of remote or hybrid work, and virtual spaces.

In this role, you’ll operate as a 3D environment artist specialist. You’ll help us define our overall artistic aesthetic and create rooms and models, as well as model textures, to create map environments.

Where you will make an impact:

  • Work closely with the Art Director and peers in the Art and Maps team to develop a 3D vision of Gather.
  • Iterate collaboratively on a number of different models to help land an attractively rendered and unique look.

What you bring:

  • Expertise in shaders and rendering in 3D software such as Blender.
  • Curiosity to explore how our retro style can evolve into something next-level.
  • A mix of digital 2D and 3D art skillsets.
  • Sculptural finesse in 3D modeling.

Nice-to-haves:

  • An understanding of applying 2D pixelart graphics to 3D environments
  • Experience with Blender Greasepencil

Who You Are

  • You have at least 2+ years of relevant experience as an individual contributor on an in-house game design team.
  • You are an expert with using Blender
  • You know how to set up Toon Shaders for rendering unique looks using Blender
  • You are scrappy, have a bias toward action, and love moving fast.

US Salary Range

At Gather, compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. This will be a 3-month commission with a budget of $15,000 and we encourage candidates outside of this range to apply.
