Job description

Human Interest is on a mission to ensure that people in all lines of work have access to retirement benefits.

Social security, our nation’s retirement safety net, is projected to be insolvent as soon as 2035, making employer-sponsored 401(k) plans the primary retirement savings vehicle in the U.S. Nearly half of all working Americans are not saving enough for their future because they are employed by a company that doesn’t offer a retirement plan. Human Interest is changing that by making it affordable and accessible for small and medium sized businesses to offer employees a path to financial independence through retirement savings.

Our values are the guiding principles we use to build solutions for plan administrators and participants. They reflect our point of view on what’s important and what’s right:
In it for customers, autonomous & accountable, outcomes driven, inclusive collaboration, and decisive.

As a program manager...

What you get to do everyday

  • Lead program management responsibilities during all phases of our engineering programs: ideation, requirements gathering, scope, design, development, testing, change management, and release.
  • Help convert ambiguous requests into projects/programs with proper dependency mapping, scoping, risk management, resourcing, etc.
  • Lead group discussions, product showcase, sprint planning with key stakeholders.
  • Drive execution of multiple simultaneous, cross-functional projects and/or programs.
  • Proactively identify and update to the correct stakeholders on projects that are in jeopardy.
  • Clearly communicate status updates on a regular cadence to a variety of audiences.
  • Translate detailed technical discussions with Engineers into summarized updates for management and leadership.
  • Interface with a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders and teams across the organization.
  • Help us develop, implement, and iterate on project processes and methodologies (sprint planning, roadmap planning, design document templates, status reporting, metrics, intake process, etc.)
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements to reduce administrative overhead for the teams.
  • Keep abreast of company growth and industry trends and implement necessary changes in our environment.

What you bring to the role

  • 5+ years of Program Management experience, specializing in delivering technical cross-functional projects in an engineering-focused environment.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Experience managing projects using the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) methodology.
  • Experience with common issue tracking and project management tools (Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, etc.)
  • Experience implementing project management methodologies using Jira (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban.)
  • Experience operating autonomously and leading across multiple teams, with stakeholders in different disciplines across time zones.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and thought leadership.
  • Plus requirements: Jira administration experience, software development experience.

Please feel free to apply to this position even if you do not meet 100% of the requirements listed above.
