Job description

About iRhythm

iRhythm is a leading digital healthcare company focused on the way cardiac arrhythmias are clinically diagnosed by combining our wearable bio sensing technology with powerful cloud-based data analytics and Artificial Intelligence capabilities. Our goal is to be the leading provider of ambulatory ECG monitoring for patients at risk for arrhythmias. iRhythm’s continuous ambulatory monitoring has already put over 2 million patients and their doctors on a shorter path to what they both need – answers.

iRhythm's Design & Usability Team:

We work hard to bring beautifully crafted experiences in both form and function into the medical device space. Being part of the Design team at iRhythm means bringing the voice of our patients and healthcare professionals to the forefront of conversations about new initiatives and product features. This user-centric mindset frequently drives us out of the office and into the field to learn more about the challenges our users face and the broader context in which are products are used. We enjoy designing mobile apps, websites, hardware products, and packaging that embrace these challenges – whether it’s a doctor having a busy day at the hospital or one of our more senior patients applying a heart monitor at home.

About Our Co-op:

In this role you will work closely with Designers and Researchers to create mobile and web experiences for one of our core user groups: either patients or healthcare professionals. Some examples of projects that you may work on during your internship include: Coordinating usability studies, generating design concepts in the form of wireframes or low-fidelity prototypes, or helping to organize/improve our UI pattern library.

Are you the Product Design Intern we’re looking for?

  • You are looking for a role in which you can make a significant impact to ensure the usability and safety of products used by patients and healthcare professionals
  • You are a natural collaborator who actively seeks out feedback
  • You have strong written and oral communication skills
  • You like learning new things and are comfortable working in a dynamic environment

Due to the global pandemic, our team is currently working remote but ideally (and pandemic allowing), this position would transition into an on-site position in our San Francisco, California office.

  • Currently enrolled in, or are a recent graduate of an Interaction Design (or related) program
  • Proficiency in Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiarity with basic user research and testing methods (usability testing, contextual inquiry, user interviews)
  • An understanding of the UX Design processes and best practices
  • An understanding of common mobile and web UI patterns

Bonus Points

  • Strong visual design skills
  • Coding skills
  • Experience shipping real products
  • Experience working with Product Managers or other business stakeholders

Application Requirements

  • Resume
  • A portfolio that exhibits your creative and thoughtful approach to solving user interface challenges

FLSA Status: Co-op, Non-Exempt

We welcome and celebrate people of all backgrounds, experiences, skills and perspectives. iRhythm Technologies, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer (M/F/V/D).
