Nuna is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and collaborative People Operations Generalist for our People Operations team. The People Ops Generalist will be responsible for critical aspects of Human Resources program implementation across the entire organization. You will be an integral team member in overseeing our employee performance management, critical HR operations, communication, training, diversity and inclusion, and career development. The Human Resource Generalist will be the first line of interaction for the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including on-boarding, and off-boarding staff, administering certain payroll functions, time and leave issues,  benefits, and acting as the main point of contact for employees and managers for all People Ops questions. 


  • Facilitates on-boarding and off-boarding of all employees. Responsible for coordination of all background checks, mandated training, benefits enrollment, new hire technology requests and entry into ADP payroll system.
  • Executes tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to, benefits, payroll, performance reviews, performance and talent management, and managing HR vendors
  • Serves as a member of the Nuna payroll team.
  • Answers employment-related inquiries from employees, and supervisors, and refers complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Assists with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Keeps abreast of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Must have at least 2-3 years of Human Resource Generalist or Management experience. SHRM-CP a plus.
  • Must have at least one year of payroll processing experience. ADP is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of California and Federal employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Highly productive and organized, with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.


  • Experience working in a software engineering-focused start-up.
